Although we had a stormy afternoon, typical in the summer, we had a break from the weather for our dinner at Habana Cafe. We had a dozen of us enjoying the Cuban cuisine. We devoured very warm Cuban bread delivered to the table as we chatted and caught up with everyone. Some of us enjoyed sangria with the bread. As you can see from the picture below, the bread quickly disappeared.
A couple of us couldn’t pass up the opportunity to enjoy a Cuban sandwich. Other dinner selections included Camarones Borracho (Drunken shrimp sauteed in olive oil, white wine, onions, garlic and mojo sauce), Camarones Ajillo (shrimp sautéed in butter, fresh garlic and white wine with fresh chopped parsley), Enchilado de Camarones (Shrimp cooked in a creole sauce with fresh chopped garlic, onions, green peppers and burgundy wine), Filete de Pescado a la Parrilla (Fillet of fresh fish, grilled in butter, seasoned with fresh garlic and Sazon completa) and I think it was Shrimp Santiago (Garlic, Chives and Fresh Tomatoes Sautéed W/ Shrimp, Crabmeat, Feta and Cream in Grape seed Oil)
While the waitress was gracious enough to offer, no room for dessert!
For our May monthly dinner, we enjoyed some Mexican food at Casita Taqueria on 66th Street in St. Petersburg. This is a new location for them that opened earlier this year. We enjoyed the outside seating and a chance to catch up with others from the group. As you can see from the menu, it is not your typical Mexican food you might find at other restaurants. Everyone had a great time.
In February, we enjoyed an Italian dinner at Gigi’s restaurant in St. Petersburg. Conflicts developed for some at the last minute so the party dropped to six diners. We had a good time, some of us enjoying the unexpected special of Wine Wednesday.
Entrees we chose included eggplant parmigiana, rigatoni salsiccia, stuffed shells and a ribeye steak.
We had a nice dinner and are looking forward to the next monthly dinner!
For our May monthly dinner, we dined at QT Crawfish in Pinellas Park. We had about eleven ladies join us. We tried several items on the menu from fried shrimp to Po’ Boys to Etouffee to Jambalaya and more. We had a nice evening to catch up with each other and plan our dinners for the rest of the year.
