Adventures Ahead In 2017

2017 is going to be an exciting year.  We have a new event planner, Shirley, and she has lots of great ideas for adventures that include hiking, kayaking, camping and more.   We don’t have exact dates yet but here is what she is thinking:

  • Hike at Brooker Creek Preserve
  • Annual camping trip at Fort De Soto in April
  • Hiking and kayaking at Weedon Island Preserve
  • Very tentative but perhaps a trip to the Suwannee River Rendezvous Resort & Campground
  • Scalloping at Homosassa
  • Weekend trip to the Rainbow River
  • Kayaking on the Weeki Wachee

Details to come.  Be sure to attend our monthly meetings, held the third Wednesday of each month (except January and December). The meetings start at about 6:30 at Bill Jackson’s in Pinellas Park.

TAW receives award for volunteer work

The Adventurous Woman have volunteered for many years at fishing tournaments hosted by the Old Salts Fishing Foundation.  We have sold t-shirts, raffle tickets, helped with the weigh-in, helped with registration and pitched in wherever help was needed.  We’ve helped at King of the Beach fishing tournaments spring and fall.  We have been especially glad to volunteer our time with the annual ladies tournament which benefits the Celma Mastry Ovarian Cancer Foundation.

Tonight at their monthly meeting,  Old Salts recognized our efforts with their volunteer of the year award.  Thanks, Old Salts!
