TAW Ladies fish the Captain Mel Classic Fishing Tournament

We had a few members of The Adventurous Woman who fished the Captain Mel Classic last weekend. Even fewer of us caught fish.  🙂  Gail caught a nice sail catfish. Unfortunately, it wasn’t one of the tournament species.  However, Brenda caught a 15.1 inch trout, placing second in the ladies division.  She also caught a flounder and wisely, had paid to enter the flounder bonus pool so she won $40.  Carolyn caught a trout and an “Oh Crap!” fish.  That is, “Oh Crap!  I caught a flounder and didn’t enter the flounder bonus pool!”

It was a little windy out there but we all had lots of fun.  Let’s hope we have better luck next year and that we have more ladies fishing the tournament.  Maybe we’ll have more Adventurous Woman catching winning fish.

Fort De Soto Camping Trip

Saturday morning started out with our fishing tournament.  We had about 13 people pick up a tournament packet but only six caught fish.  Continue reading

March Meeting

At our March meeting, Neil Taylor was our speaker.  In advance of the Captain Mel Fishing tournament, he gave us lots of tips for fishing for reds and trout. He also discussed fishing from kayaks and fishing from land.

Before the meeting got started, Lavinia presented a plaque from Hooked on Hope to Maura, co-captain, in honor of our support of the Hooked on Hope fishing tournament.
