Let’s go hiking!

Note: Due to illness, this hike will be rescheduled.
Ready to work off some of that Thanksgiving meal?

Our final trip of the year will be to the Cross Florida Greenway – Land Bridge Trail near Ocala. If you have ever noticed a bridge across I-75 that has trees and other vegetation, this is it. This bridge was built in 1999-2000 and was the first true land bridge in the United States. You can read more about it here: http://floridahikes.com/cross-florida-greenway-the-land-bridge and here https://www.floridastateparks.org/trail/Cross-Land-Bridge

We will be hiking this trail on Saturday, December 5th. It will be about a two hour drive or so. We plan to start the hike at about 10:30.

Bring a hat, sunscreen, comfortable walking shoes, water and a snack.

We may go to lunch after the hike.

Little Manatee River State Park Hike

The hike at Little Manatee River State Park was a shorter hike than usual. Half of the trail was closed.  Still it was a good hike and we did get to hike a little bit along the river.  It was a little wet at the very beginning but after that, we were good to go.  One interesting note at the entrance was to keep an eye out for a missing bull. It has escaped from one of the nearby ranches.  Fortunately, we did not run into it.  Afterward we headed to Yoder’s Amish Restaurant for a great lunch and of course, some pie.
